Camel coats seem to be a staple item for the forthcoming season. Camel is a fantastic break for winter from the usual “go to” black, gray, and winter white. Must have camel is a sign that fashion is going back to basics. It’s time to break out the trenches. Maybe try a camel pea coat to blend with this seasons military/utilitarian trend, or our favorite, a wool boyfriend blazer in camel which looks tres chic over classic nautical stripes and wide leg trousers. Feeling like you need a pick me up on a drab winter day? Add a pop of red (shoes/bag) to compliment this iconic look.

We have written about the bustier trend in the past, but this season it is taking a turn in a more traditional direction. The undergarment is being worn as an outer garment in conjunction of the 1950’s/”Mad Men” craze. Bustiers have been seen on the runways of both Prada and Louis Vuitton with era appropriate circle skirts. Or try wearing them with tight pencil skirts and cardigans for a bombshell effect. For a more unconventional approach try pairing a bustier with wide leg trousers or high waist shorts.

Girls are going Goth this Fall/Winter! Designers have been influenced by the dark side for the season. With the revival of minimal 90’s black ensembles, to the hard cut black leather seen at Givenchy and Rick Owens. Open weave knits resembling spider webs are also key for the season. Not only is Goth a key fashion trend for the upcoming season, but it will creep into our makeup bags as well, with fresh pale faces and deep dark burgundy lips to match. Not ready to plunge into this trend? Try a modified look with a Luxe Gypsy Goth dress a la Stevie Nicks, or go Neo-Goth with inspiration from Proenza Schouler’s leather corseted dressed and cropped jackets in dark emerald and ebony.

We have already seen a bit of the 1990’s coming back with the resurrection of grunge and last week we blogged about the revival of 1970’s influence in upcoming trends for this Fall/Winter. Seems like fall will be a whirlwind of decades as the 50’s returning with ladylike looks. Circle skirts will be a big trend for Fall/Winter’10. Models at Louis Vuitton’s fall show were spotted wearing them paired with short sleeve fitted sweaters and fur trimmed collars. Think Betty Draper and June Clever, with 50’s/60’s cinched waist day dresses and prom style frocks. Top off this look with prim and proper stylings, black liquid liner and ruby red lips. Freshly baked apple pie, optional!

This fall/winter will bring a revival of numerous eras ranging from the 1950’s, to the 1990’s, and more specifically the 1970’s. The 70’s influence has sprouted throughout several collections for the upcoming season. Suits circa 1970 have made a big comeback with designers Gianfranco Ferre, Akris, Ferragamo, and Balmain. Think high waist, wide leg trousers worn with buttery silks and working girl neckties. The perfect blend of masculine meets feminine!

Who doesn’t love the comfort and coziness of a sweatshirt? We do! That’s why we are super excited to see the sporty top being worn for Fall/Winter 2010. We got a sneak peek of the sweatshirt trend this spring as a staple player in the Sporty trend du jour paired with leather shorts. For Fall/Winter 2010 we will see sweatshirts being paired with posh ladylike skirts and ultra feminine accessories. Make sure the sweatshirt is fitted and for an effortlessly chic look, pair it with soft romantic bottoms.

Leopard prints are forever in and out of style. We saw a major influence in 2009, with the edgy rock ‘n roll trends, and the coveted vintage leopard coat ( Winter ‘09). As we progressed to Spring of 2010 we saw leopard used in neon variations from dresses to accessories. Having great staying power, leopard print is sticking around for the fall. We have seen the print on everything from dresses to yummy booties and gold leopard animal cuffs. To give it a fresh look for the up coming season, we love incorporating the print with decadent gold lame or opalescent brocade. For the unexpected kitschy twist we love pairing leopard with black and white polka dots!

We are super excited to see a revival of the 1990’s grunge trend! Flash back to all things Seattle, Kurt Cobain, granny florals, and flannels. With the return of grunge comes the combat boot! This tough ass kicking shoe was originally meant to be worn by those with military/government professions. In the past we have adapted them into our wardrobe ans they are back again for late summer/early fall. Wear them with sweet floral dresses and cut off shorts in summer for ultimate edginess, and then pair them with leggings or skinnies, and an oversized boyfriend blazer for an unexpected twist in fall.

If there is one thing we recommend investing in, its handbags! They are a staple that manage to continuously rotate through multiple season’s trends. Case in point, classic bags are back in for fall. Designers are recreating their classic styles ranging from the 1930’s to the 1990’s. From the coveted Birkin to Louis Vuitton’s Speedy bag. Shorter handles and luxurious exotic skins seem to be the common denominator in the must have nouveau classics. The bags will pair well with this season librarian trend and minimalist structured suits.

Jewelry has taken on a softer side for the season. Everything from braided rope, to chiffon, to what appears to be twisted scrap fabric, are being used for summers hottest accessories. With the comeback of 1990’s friendship bracelets and the timeless craft of crocheting, the accesories have literally taken homemade to another level. So, store away your heavy metals and try lighter, cheery, fabric jewelry. The perfect adornment for your sweet floral summer dresses!
