Trend Alert: Ahoy Matey! Rope Necklaces
Nautical is a key trend for Spring/Summer 2009. It was scoped on the runways of D&G, Stella McCartney, and Michael Kors. We are especially loving the nautical knot rope necklaces(below).

Cowboy boots and Western Wear are baaaack! The recycled trend was spotted on the street and on the Spring 2009 runways, with a more updated modern feel.

So I stumbled across this comic in Glamour this past weekend, and it made me laugh! It also made me think about the impact the recession has had on fashion. With lack of funding and job cut back, how many of us have found ourselves digging in the depths of our closets to recycle and incorporate past trends into new? Or found ourselves lusting over that Vera Wang Lavender Label dress, but settling on the Simply Vera Wang line offered at Kohl’s? Through my quest to find what characteristics one must possess to qualify as a “Recessionista”, I discovered therecessionista.blogspot.com, a blog dedicated entirely to the economy conscience. Its creator, Mary Hall, focuses on finding great fashions and styles for less, or “Recession Chic”. She defines the “Recessionista” as “those of us struggling to survive the recent global economic challenges while still enjoying some of life’s pleasures.” She offers some great advise and tips on how to cut back without completely sacrificing our style. Check her out at therecessionista.blogspot.com.
