For The Gossip’s second major label release they enlisted producer and legend Rick Rubin. The final outcome is an album so close to perfection, its ridiculous. “Music For Men”, consists of 12 flawless songs that exalt passion and pure emotion form every lick out of front woman. Beth Ditto’s mouth. Comparable to Pat Benetar or Heart, Beth Ditto, will have you dancing in one track, your heart broken the next, and screaming your lungs out in another. Lead single “Heavy Cross”, is an example of an amazing bassline, dancey beat and that hook you can’t help but chant while you listen to it. “heavy Cross”, is definitelyfirst single worthy, and is right there with “Standing in th Way of Control”, and “Yr Mangled Heart”, and the bands best material. Other album standout tracks include: “Dimestore Diamond”, and hit already with fans, the very disco “Love Long Distance”, which samples the Motown hit “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”. The rocking, “Vertical Rhythm”, which is also in the running for being on of the albu,s best tracks, and lastly “Four-Letter Word”. After signing to major record labels, indie bands typically play it safe to achieve mainstream success. The Gossip definitely takes risks on “Music For Men”, and they take all the right ones.

Bodysuits are baaaack! An ultra-chic summer must have, the bodysuit can be worn a multitude of ways. For the daring, it can be worn as a onesie, or perfectly polished under a high-waist or tulip skirt, or effortlessly cool with a pair of worn jeans. Whatever you do girls, do NOT wear with legwarmers!

Blood is a remixed release of Franz Ferdinand’s album Tonight. The album is very heavily influenced by dub, especially towards the end of the album. Blood is not a traditional Jamaican style of dub, but heavy on electronic samples and bass beats. All in all a clever and refreshing remix album for any fan.

The playsuit is a great and effortless alternative to the cocktail dress this summer. The Onesie has come a long way having a super chic quality. Denim is key for this summer, or try bright vintage floral for a instant pin-up look a la Katy Perry.
Colour Blocking is big for Spring/Summer ‘09. The simplicity of this trend is ironically quite edgy. The trick to this trend is not to overdo it. Stick with one color for a monochromatic effect. For those braver, try colors in the same family (IE. fuschia and orange) or for the daring, contrasting colors like canary yellow and purple.

Little Boots, A.K.A. Victoria Hesketh is the newest starlet to hit the music scene. Hailing all the way from the UK, Little Boots is already turning heads with her unique synth-pop sounding debut, which she credits all to the Japanese Tenori-on. Before her success, Little Boots found herself on ” Pop Idol”, which is Britain’s equivalent to “American Idol”. After being eliminated three weeks in, she caught the eye of Lily Allen’s producer, Greg Kurstin and the rest is history. On her debut, “Hands”, she produced some of the catchiest hooks and hypnotic beats to spare. “Hands”, delivers light and carefree moments in tracks such as “Earthquakes”, “New In Town”, and the clever “Mathematics”. Little Boots also pours her soul out on tracks like “Stuck On Repeat”, “Hearts Collide”, and the album closer, “No Breaks”. In a world where pop music is leaning more towards a futuristic and dance infused sound, Little Boots’ debut will definitely fin success on top of the charts.

Part of the Grecian Trend this year, the draped skirt is a huge hit! The “unstructured” structured skirt looks great on all shapes and sizes. It instantly gives a modern look to any outfit.
