Zoot Woman is an electronica band hailing from the UK (where they do dance music best). The band consists of Adam Blake, Johnny Blake, and Stuart Price (known for work on Madonna’s “Confessions On A Dancefloor” album). For the bands third album, they decided to steer away from their indie sound of their last two records and aimed for a catchier, hook oriented album. “Things Are What They Used To Be”, is the best dance album of 2009, thus far. It delivers beats and synths straight off a Kylie record, and choruses so catchy you cannot get them out of your head. The albums highlights include: the opener, “Friend Of Mine” (the chorus, “All that time going out of my mind/see that smile such a different star/all you wanna be is just a friend of mine/all you wanna be is just a friend of mine” is a prime example of one of the many hooks you can’t get out of your head!). “Lonely By Your Side”, is a song so genius it sounds like it would belong on New Orders last album. Other highlights include: “More Than Ever”, “Lust Forever”, and the albums title track “Things Are What They Used To Be”. Zoot Woman delivers an album so dance floor ready as well as soothing to the mind and soul.

Gloves are a major fashion accessory this season. Designers have paid a great deal of attention to them this fall/winter. Gloves can be added to any outfit for instant chic sophistication. This year they are showing up in a multitude of styles: Of course LEATHER gloves are always in but elbow length is the key this time. Try them in a variety of colors and exotic skins. For the bold go fingerless. VELVET gloves are back creating a elegant and vintage effect. SATIN and LACE are more than perfect for evening gowns or for an unexpected effect try denim! And Finally, a new twist on KNITTED gloves. Worn elbow length and fingerless they give instant edge when worn with feminine dresses.

The release of Simian Mobile Disco’s second album is anything but Temporary Pleasure. Working with producer James Ford, (responsible for the likes of Peaches, Klaxons, and Arctic Monkeys) Simian teams up with Beth Ditto (Gossip), Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Jamie Lidell, and Chris Keating (Yeasayer) to name a few. This time around SMD added a lot more vocal tracks still backed by crazy electro beats sure to make you shake it ‘cross the dance floor.

The cape is probably one of the oldest trends dating back to medieval time. Once revived in the 60’s in the form of poncho, we have seen much of it since. This fall/winter the cape is back and this time in many forms. Capes, Capelets, Cloaks, Ponchos, and Stoles have turned up all over the runways. Very versatile, they all can be worn in various ways ranging from Old Hollywood to Glam Goth, to Bohemian Luxe, to Americana. Find your style and explore a new way to stay warm this fall/winter.

British electropop musician and former beat boxer, Vincent Turner (later taking on the name Frank for his grandfather), is the latest sensation to hit the industry. He started out as a fashion student dropping out to focus on music. After dropping out , he first broke into the scene by remixing hit songs for everybody from Alphabeat, CSS, Pet Shop Boys, and Amy Winehouse. In summer of 2009, he dropped his debut album, “Complete Me”. “Complete Me” is the ultimate dance floor ready album of 2009 and will hold that title well into 2010. The albums standout tracks are the hit single “Confusion Girl” (Shame Shame Shame), the Kylie Minogue sounding “In Step”, and “3 Little Words”. The album takes a break in the middle of the album with slower songs like title track “Complete Me” and “Vacant Heart”. These songs are crucial to the album and put a vulnerable touch on the album. Europe is definitely glad Turner did not “Complete” art school for fear of never seeing such a strong debut album like “Complete Me”.

Real or Faux, fur is one of the last luxury items for fall winter 2009/2010. We are seeing it in both extremes…Big shaggy costs and vests in lieu of the 80’s trend and in small pieces such as sleeves, collars, bags, hats, and booties. Practical and versatile, fur can be styled in various ways, and has something to offer everyone this season.
