Fashion will begin to take a different turn toward the end of the summer. Vintage will be a big inspiration for the coming season. With that comes the return of spectator pumps and oxford detail. Oxfords are a hot key trend in men’s fashion for Spring/Summer 2010, and are crossing over into our footwear rotation. This give us a chance to let our feet rest for sky high spectator pumps which are also big for the season. Spectator pumps look amazing when incoprate into the “Wall Street” men’s inspired look for Fall 2010. Its best to have fun with this trend and experiment with gender-bending roles!

After touring around the world and releasing their single “Solid Gold” along with numerous remixes, Penelope Trappes and Stephen Hindman, returned to New York to release their much awaited debut album, “Voluspa”. “Voluspa”, which is a medievalNordic poem will be released on Brille Records (also responsible for The Knife and Good Shoes) and was self produced. The duo really taps into a mystic unearthly world with this album singing about mysitcs, love, goddesses, and folklore. Penelope’s vocals are mysterious and enchanting. ”Voluspa” is full of drums, strings and synths and heavy disco beats. The Golden Filter was recently featured at SXSW this year where they built a dynamic following all anticipating the captivating release of ”Voluspa”.

The messy side braid is the new mini braid (from 2009). The side braid is one of the biggest hair trend for Spring/Summer 2010. We love the messy boho do that was seen on all over the runways from Alexander Wang to Mui Mui. The side braid is the perfect go to for soft feminine day to night hair. To achieve the the best braid work with dirty hair. Start with a side part, then tease your hair near the root. Next pull your hair into a low side ponytail and begin to braid. Remember the braid is supposed to be loose and messy.

The dance industry’s number one selling duo is finally back. It’s been two years but it seems like much, much longer. We last heard from Goldfrapp back in 2008. They dropped a raw, organic album, which saw them losing the electric sound and going back to the sound of their debut album, “Felt Mountain.” Not that there is anything wrong with that because Allison Goldfrapp can sing any genre and make it perfection. “Head First,” finds the duo going back to what they know best and taking it to the nth degree. “Head First,” contains nine dance floor ready tracks that all contain a heavy retro influence, and the retro sound I am talking about is very Ladyhawke (a previous Ellemm favorite) sounding. The album starts off with one of the catchiest tracks Goldfrapp has ever released. “Rocket,” contains a hook so simple, yet so catchy you can’t stop singing it, not to mention it also contains a synth you can’t help but shake your ass to. “Believer,” and “Alive,” also share similar qualities but are completely different bodies of works too. “Dreamer,” Is one of the few slower songs on the album, but is probably the strongest. “Shiny and Warm,” is the albums “Strict Machine.” Last the instrumental, “Voicething,” which consists of different moans all over synths. Overall, “Headfirst,” is a possible contender for Goldfrapp’s best album of their career.

Clogs are back and in a big (chunky) way. The studded wooden shoe made popular by the Dutch turned up on the runways of Chanel, Mui Mui, and Louis Vuitton to name a few. Some say the trend really set in when styl-ite (stylish socialite) Alexa Chung paired hers with a Chanel frock and woolly tights. It looks as if heels are hitting new heights, or lack of, first with the comeback of kitten heels and now clogs? This time around the clog is taking various forms from wedge to platform to Stella McCartney’s clog lace up sandal. Rest assured that if you like this trend there is something out there for everyone to explore. Clogs look amazing with frocks and bohemian dresses (throwback to 90’s grunge days) or wear them with this season’s super short shorts.

It began in Milan when Bot and Phra, better known as Crookers, met in 2003. They began their career remixing songs for artists like Armand Van Helden, Kid Cudi, Timbaland, Chromeo, Busy P & MURS. Finally the highly anticipated debut album, “Tons Of Friends” released this past week. The album title could not be any further from the truth. With 20 tracks and over 20 guest drops from some of the hotest cutting edge artists from a multitude of genres, the Crookers manage to mash it all up and have it come out seamlessly. The album features collaborations with Kelis, Will.I.AM, Major Lazer, Miike Snow, Roisin Murphy, Rye Rye, Drop The Lime, Spank Rock, Pit Bull, and Steed Lord, to name a few. “Tons Of Friends” is a big fat party from start to finish. Where else are you going to find Reggaeton mixed with funk, or Pop vocals mixed over B-more breaks?
